7 Things You Never Knew You Didn’t Know About Me

I was tagged by Hundred Goals to participate in a meme called “7 Things You Never Knew You Didn’t Know About Me”. I thought this would be a good chance to share some things about myself (as if I don’t share enough random things already), but maybe this will give you a little insight into the non-financial me.

Here are the Meme rules

1. Link to your original tagger(s) and list these rules in your post.
2. Share seven facts about yourself in the post.
3. Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged.

And here we go…

1) I pick up the accents of people around me and start talking like them without meaning to. This is handy when learning foreign languages. When I’m speaking like myself, I have a jumbled accent with roots in the German language, the Midwest, and the Great Lakes area. My family constantly makes me repeat words because they want to hear how I say them. My new refrain is “you heard me”.

2) I keep a list called “things I’m good at”. I started it one day as an exercise to see what kind of skills I had, and just kept going. Turns out I have some very eclectic skills, some of them of dubious use.

3) I love animals so much, and would have probably become a veterinarian with a houseful of them except that I’m allergic to almost every kind of animal I’ve ever encountered. Luckily Rhodesian Ridgebacks are an exception, so we have a Rhodesian Ridgeback. We also have a cat that I’ve built up a tolerance to after months of headaches, congestion, hives, etc., although she still bothers me somewhat. It irritates me that some people seem to think I’m not really allergic. I’d have a zoo if I weren’t allergic.

4) I constantly have projects going, even when I try not to. I’ve come to realize that this is just who I am. I like to build things and mess around with stuff. I’m just very, v-e-r-y slow at finishing them. Luckily I also have a patient husband.

5) I am working on creating balance between my many projects and having free time. (See above.)

6) Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I love ambling the streets of a place I’ve never been before, talking to random people and poking around. I prefer to stay for long periods in a single place so that there’s time to really get to know the area and learn something.

7) I used to be a wedding photographer, and still enjoy photography. I just don’t do it much anymore unless I’ve specifically set out to shoot. I see things differently through a lens, and I enjoy seeing things both with and without it.

Now it is your turn, share 7 Things I Never Knew I Didn’t Know About You! (I’m supposed to tag people here, but just join in if you like.)
