8 things about me
I’ve been tagged by Family Savings to do the 8 things meme. You’re supposed to post the rules before launching into the meme, but item #1 about me is that I’m not fond of following arbitrary “rules”, so I’m going to skip that part. Here’s the rest of the list:
2. I’m equally interested in computers, science, and creative arts. I think they’re all pretty connected really.
3. I once left a job to go work in Europe. I came ThisClose to convincing my U.S. employer to give me a paid leave of absence while I did so, but at the last minute someone else got involved and my plans were foiled.
4. I get asked for directions all the time, especially when I’m somewhere that I’ve never been before.
5. Even though I apparently look like I know where I’m going, I get turned around easily, especially when driving. (Even in completely familiar neighborhoods, like near the house I’ve lived in for 10 years.) On a related note, shortly after my family moved here when I was a kid, my mom & I went to the grocery store for about an hour. We drove home afterwards, and couldn’t find our house, even though we KNEW we were on the right street. Finally we realized that while we were at the grocery store, someone had come and landscaped our entire front yard, which had been nothing but dirt when we’d left. They laid sod, and planted shrubs and trees. Apparently our house was hit by a drive-by landscaping.
6. I love to do home improvements. My favorite phrase in that regard is “It can’t be that hard…” (Or maybe those are more like famous last words. But really, most things aren’t as hard as they might look.)
7. When I graduated from high school, I blew a thousand dollars on fun stuff. It was the first (and pretty much only) time I’d spent a large amount of money completely frivolously. I did have fun doing it.
8. My favorite food is popcorn. And pizza. I have a hard time picking favorite anythings.
I’m supposed to tag 8 people now, but so many people have been tagged already that I don’t know who to pick. So if you want to do it, just jump in :)
