Adding to my list of goals

I’m adding two new items to my list of goals for the year. Strangely, these two may be just as hard for me to complete as the other goals on my list. I’m adding the following items:

  • Get a massage at least once a month
  • Enjoy fresh flowers in the house at least once a month

You wouldn’t think they would be that hard to complete, but I have a very hard time buying expensive things for myself (where expensive = more than $75) and I have a very hard time buying things that won’t last very long. (With the exception of food — I have no problem spending money on food that’s gone in a few minutes.)

Maybe I need to think of flowers as food — food for my soul. I LOVE flowers. They make me so happy. So it hit me the other day, why don’t I do more of the things I get great pleasure from? Isn’t that what money is for? Plus flowers won’t add pounds, and massages will make me feel better physically.

So there you have it, my two new goals. Have you added any similar goals?

I’m totally like you with expensive things. I don’t mind spending $20 on food and books (the former of which will be gone in minutes and the latter of will be done in hours/days), but otherwise I’ll analyze to death anything that costs more than $40.

I can relate to this too, especially with the flowers. I’ve since discovered a small vendor at a local farmer’s market that sells fresh flowers for under $12. They are usually large sunflowers, gerberas etc. that have been lasting a fairly long time. Plus you are supporting local businesses.

I’ve actually never been for a massage but would love to try one out.
To say that I’m a bit tense these days, is an understatement.
