Blunt Money turns two!
It’s been two years now since I started this blog. If you’re a long-time reader, thank you! If you’re a new reader, thank you too! I appreciate you all.
Two years ago I was just beginning to get interested in personal finance. I’d read Your Money Or Your Life while on vacation, and it literally changed the way I saw things from that point forward. Tracking expenses is one of the major points from that book, and I started tracking them right away, even while on vacation. I was surprised at how helpful doing so was. Then I got back from the trip, realized that people were writing about personal finance, started this blog, and immediately began paying off my student loan from graduate school that had been hanging around for years. Within four months it was gone. Years of hanging around! And poof. All it took was focused effort and some accountability.
That quote from Goethe is true: “The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.”
Providence comes in many forms. It’s amazing what pouring your money toward one goal at a time can do. Equally important are the number of things I’ve learned from commenters and other bloggers over the past two years. To my way of thinking, anniversaries are a time of looking back with fondness on the past, enjoying the present moment, and planning for the future. I think I’ve taken care of the first two already in this post, so now for future plans.
In the future, I’d like to see this blog continue to grow — both reader-wise and interaction-wise. If you enjoy the blog, please share it with others who might be interested. I’d like to explore various topics in further detail, ranging from debt reduction, to saving money, to investing and improving income streams. (I’m especially focused on those last two right now, but don’t want to forget about the first two either.) If you have suggestions for things you’d like to see covered, please comment.
If you like what you've read, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Two things:
What has been the most important pieces of knowledge you have learned in your journey?
Has the blog been financially profitable?

Ross, I would say learning to focus has been the most important thing I’ve learned. That and playing to my strengths.
Yes, the blog has been financially profitable, more so recently than in the beginning. That’s been a good side benefit.

Happy anniversary! I love your blog. I love that you write concise, effective posts frequently so love to see that continue.
I am interested in learning more about investing and think that you would be really great at doling out that information in meaningful, understandable bites. Don’t know if you would be interested in creating maybe a series of ‘basics of investing’. I really have no idea where to start and am extremely overwhelmed at the volume to learn.
Here’s to many more years!
