Cloth grocery bags?
I’m finally going to get organized and buy some cloth grocery bags, but the question is, from where? I know that Whole Foods sells them, although I don’t know their price. And I saw some online that looked nice, but they were $18 per bag. That seems awfully high to me. What I’d actually like to do is find some blank ones and either leave them blank or put my own designs on them. Does anyone have a good source for cloth grocery bags? If you could recommend one I’d appreciate it :)

I’ve found many of my cloth grocery bags at thrift stores or rummage sales. When my light colored ones get dirty I just toss them in the wash. Ask friends, family & people at work, it’s amazing what people want to get rid if they know someone truly has a need for it. Hope this helps. Good luck! Sue

The Albertsons in my area have them for $.99. I’ve also seen them at Smiths, which means that there’s a good chance that any Kroger affeliate will have them. I believe they were around $2.99.

What about posting for cloth tote bags on your local Freecycle? I have tons of totes from various sources like conventions or tourist traps. I wish I was disciplined enough to actually get them into the grocery store with me. The official ones I bought was also at the local Krogers and I know I wouldn’t have paid more than $5.
If you really want plain ones, try the local arts and crafts place (Hobby Lobby, Michaels).

Check out reusablebags.com. I work in a grocery store where we encourage reusable bags, and I’ve noticed people say they’re happy with bags from this company. They seem to be made well, and they are easy to stuff full of food. That said, all of my bags are canvas ones from thrift stores.

I’ve noticed that they carry cloth tote bags in many sizes and colors at my local craft store. They’re really cheap too. Plus the craft store will also have all the supplies you need for decorating them.

Check out Chicobags.com They have them in a variety of colors for $5 per bag. They even have a little bag to store them in integrated into the bag, with a little clip to help keep it on your keychain.

I was going to mention the Chico bags. If I didn’t have about 10 cloth bags already (mainly book-bag type bags) that I use all the time, I’d order a few Chico bags.

I love my tote by reisenthel I got it at the container store. They’re listed online for $4.95 but I got mine on special in the store for less. It folds up into a small pouch (about 2″x4″)that you can throw in your purse so when you go to the store or library unscheduled you always have it with you. Reusablebags.com has unlimited types of bags.
