Did I say flood insurance?
If I hadn’t been convinced that getting flood insurance was a good idea already, I would be after yesterday’s rains. It rained heavily for about an hour, and then later began to drizzle. Within maybe 20-30 minutes of the rain starting, water was running up over the sidewalks and ponds were forming in the yards. Cars were stalled out (or in some cases floating) on local streets, and the freeway was flooded. I’m thinking it might be good to add some water shoes to our emergency bin. And I wonder if car insurance covers damage due to flooding?
In this instance there was a sort of carnival atmosphere to things — people playing in the street, etc. but just that brief downpour caused quite a bit of damage for some people. Thanks to my husband for the pics.
We didn’t have any damage, but at least one of the neighbors did to their car.
Good reminder. I don’t know why more people don’t take various types of insurance more seriously. I know they are expensive to have just “in case” something happens, but then, that’s the point isn’t it? You’re covered if it ever does!
Did you guys have any damage?
Wow! I can’t say anything else!
Wow… I’ve been on the 60 when it was flooded like that before. It was crazy. They had it totally blocked off and were letting one car go at a time over on the shoulder.
Ashley, the funny thing about this time was that there were no shoulders. The whole thing was covered with water!
I have no idea how they got the people headed westbound off the freeway, because that was cleared up fairly quickly, but I suspect the people headed eastbound were stuck there for a couple of hours til the pumps got the water level down.
We had almost $500 in damage during a recent monsoon downpour the other day. Damaged two sensors trying to get home. Our repairman said it’s probably covered, but I think our deductible is $500 so it might not matter.
It floods everywhere, even in the desert!
