Don’t just read the books…
jdroth over at Get Rich Slowly posted a nice list of 25 of the best books about money recently. I was happy to see my personal favorite, Your Money or Your Life listed there.
My husband actually sent me the link (although I do read the site, I’ve just been behind lately!) along with the comment that while there are some great personal finance books out there, none of them are any good if all you do is read them. Reading them can be a great kick-start, but you have to have the commitment necessary to achieve your goals. You have to decide what will work for you, and then put in the time and effort that’s required.
In part, I think that’s why there ARE so many books on both personal finance and weight loss. Everyone wants to make money & get in shape, but actually DOING it can be another matter. So, choose your favorite(s) and then put in the work to reap the rewards.

these books are great, I can read them before bed, get all fired up to take action, fall asleep, and forget about it by the time I’m dressed and heading to work in the morning.

Your Money or Your Life is my favorite also. It’s the first book I recommend.
