Filed your taxes already?
I’m jealous of all you people that are able to do your taxes already. I’m not sure why, because I will probably owe, but I am. It must be the not knowing.
You see, we can’t ever file until the day taxes are due — if we’re lucky and don’t need to request an extension. This is because I always have to wait on a K-1, which doesn’t report until very late. (Sometimes I don’t get it until after April 15th, since they have until that date to file the K-1.)
So every year I sit and wonder how much I’ll have to pay. The not knowing bugs me. Last year I went ahead and guesstimated everything in Turbo Tax, but I don’t think I’ll be doing that again because it was a pain to go back in and change everything from estimated to actual once I got all of the paperwork. So for now I’ll just try to pretend that taxes don’t exist until mid-April.

Yikes, and I was frustrated that I still haven’t gotten my w-2 yet.

That’s awful that you don’t get all your info until April 15th. I’m still waiting on one of my three and my hubby already got his. It’s hard waiting!

Pardon my ignorance, but what’s a K-1 form?

Chief, a K-1 form is a form that partnerships have to file. They have to send it to both the IRS and all of the partners by the normal tax filing deadline. It shows things like type of income, gains or losses, and percentage of ownership for each partner.
