Freebies coming up this weekend
Who doesn’t like freebies? Our library lets us check out free passes to area attractions, but as you might imagine they’re kind of hard to snag since they only have a limited number of passes. Still, we’ve been able to go to a couple of things in the area already.
But the freebies coming up this weekend don’t require luck or good timing.
Saturday, September 26, 2009 is Free Museum Day in the U.S. You can get into any participating museum for free just by printing out a card, which is good for you plus one guest. Check out the Smithsonian’s microsite for a list of participating museums and to download the card. (And of course the Smithsonian museums are always free.)
Rather be outside? That same day is also National Public Lands Day, which means that admission to all 391 national parks is free. You can find a park new you by searching the National Park Service site.
It’s also a day of service where volunteers work to help improve the national parks. If you want to sign up to volunteer, visit the National Public Lands Day site.
