Get pumped
Man, when motivation finally hits me, it really hits. I am so excited about paying off our house that I can hardly stand it.
How did this happen?
It was a perfectly ordinary day. As usual, I was thinking about the things I want to accomplish and talking to my husband, and all of a sudden I really, REALLY wanted to see our mortgage GONE.
I wanted to be completely debt free, ASAP.
Soooo badly I could (and still can) taste it.
What changed?
We spent sometime with some people we know this past weekend, and one of them said to me, “You own your house outright, right? You don’t owe anything on it?”
I replied, “No, we’re paying on it, and we want to be done in two years.”
But just for half a second there, I actually FELT the way it will feel not to owe a single dime.
“How are we going to do that?” asked my husband.
“We’ll just keep paying on it,” I replied.
But it’s more than that. We’ll also FOCUS on it, and really feel what it’s going to be like when we’re all done.
And now that I’m motivated, reaching or beating our goal seems easy.
It’s going to happen, I know it.

You know you can do it, because you’ve already paid off your other debts. Just keep throwing your old debt payment at your mortgage. Trust me, it’s great to own your home outright.
