Guest post from my 14 year old son

Well my mom asked me what to write about as USUAL (cause you know all her inspiration comes from me). Well in the end i said what i invariably do….. You could give me a hundred bucks. Well in the spirit of service (she wouldnt give me $100) I decided to help her.

So… It was just recently my birthday and as usual i asked for money. So along with other items that’s what i got. BUTTTT!!!! i ended up having to save it which in the end i saw as a good idea. So i got money and my mom is always telling me to save so i have been. I have around 2k in savings and with the money i got from my birthday+ what i had in the bank i started a new C.D. While this is good it isnt really helpful for what i want NOW… Savings is for the future with almost no thought of the now. While i know that alot of the things i want i wont get or need that still doesnt stop me from wanting them or asking for the money to get them (though i never actually get the money – my mom never carrys money in her purse so she never has any to give me or spend herself – I keep asking). Well alot of the times i want to go to the movies or hang out with my friends at the mall (aka SHOP!) but i never have any money to do this so i cant which kinda annoys me. So every time i want to go to the movies i end up asking for money (or in the rare case of a holiday/birthday/allowance day i have it) which i dont get but i end up getting money some how anyways (looking in corners of your house where you’d never think their was money has led me to scrounging enough money to go to the movies a couples times)

So in the end i wrote but i dont know what i wrote about but i hope it was helpful.

I wish my parents had instilled the thrifty values in me that Bluntmoney has in you. Nice work, Bluntmoney’s son :)

Come on. He’s 14. Give the kid some spending money.

It’s great to see a 14 yr. old being taught to save. I never learned it as a kid and I spent half my life wasting money and building debt instead of wealth. It’s a sad, sad, story.
