How I found my real estate agent
Buying and/or selling a home is often one of the big financial decisions many people face, and it can be helpful to have the services of someone to assist you through the process. A real estate agent can be of great help, especially in states where it’s not typical to use an attorney to take care of some of the details. When my then-husband and I decided to sell our condo, I was determined to find the best real estate agent possible. I knew that I wanted someone who was aggressive, assertive, honest, and not afraid to go out and get business.
So I placed a “for sale by owner” ad in the local paper, purposefully pricing our unit too high. Sure enough, I got a few calls from interested people, but I also got 3 cold calls from real estate agents wanting to know if I was interested in working with them. I made appointments with each of them, and they all came out and did a presentation. Only one of them told me that our unit was priced too high, that we’d need to find another place for our pets to stay temporarily and declutter before he would show the unit. He really impressed me, and was willing to take no commission if any of the people that had shown interest already bought, and to work with us if all we wanted to do was sell the condo. (Which wouldn’t generate much of a commission.) He was also a licensed Realtor® and very thorough. 10 years later, I’m still happy with his service.

This is great! I think a lot of people just take the first agent that comes along. I did when I started and it was a huge mistake. Now I got someone I enjoy working with. And like yours, he tells me the truth which is rare. No “pie in the sky” promises.
