Hungry for a month
My husband forwarded me this link to the Hungry for a Month blog. The person’s goal was to spend no more than $30 in a month on food, or an average of $1 per day. While they didn’t do it out of a desire to save money, of course that was one of the results. I do think he could have eaten better than he did for that amount of money, since I used to regularly spend $40 per month for two people. But, it’s easier to do that when it’s not just for a single month. What is the most extreme thing you’ve ever done to save money?

When we moved to where we are now, I only had a job working full-time at $7.00/hr. My husband didn’t have a job yet and he stayed home taking care of our young son. We managed to get by on $20/week on groceries. It was tough, and it took a lot of planning to make it work. Although I no longer plan like that for groceries, I still kept a few of the spreadsheets I used just for old times sake.
