International calls at no extra charge
I saw this article about cell phone related services in the New York Times, and one of the items mentioned caught my eye. It’s a program called FuturePhone that allows people to make international calls to 50 different countries at no additional cost. You don’t need any special equipment either (it’s not VOIP), and you pay only whatever you would normally pay for a call to Iowa using your cell phone. If you’ve got unlimited minutes or free long distance on your cell plan, that means you can call places like Italy and the United Kingdom for no additional charge. FuturePhone plans to keep the service free (“no catch”) until at least the year 2010. So get calling!

I’ve been reading your archives since you commented on my blog, and found this post useful. My sister lives in England. BUT when I clicked on the link, there’s a big red banner on it that says “this service is no longer available. Bummer. I wonder if there’s anything similar out there?
