Link hopping: Finally Making Progress Edition

This has been a productive week for me. I’ve made a lot of progress on a side project that’s been dragging out for years. I’m super happy to finally see an end in sight for that in the near future. I’ve also had a chance to read some cool articles this week. Here are a few of them:

Dollar Frugal writes on obsolescence. This is one of my favorite subjects. People throw away so many perfectly good things, and there’s no reason to. Keeping them can save you money, and make your life more enjoyable.

Mr. Cheap of Quest for Four Pillars talks about his experiences with store credits. Do you think you’re better or worse off when you accept incentives for shopping at certain stores?

Squawkfox is really into tightie whities. (And I thought I was good at relating odd things to money.)

MoneyNing tells us how to kick junk mail to the curb.

Clever Dude questions whether he needs a truck for hauling. (I bet he could even fit a lot more stuff in the Mini Cooper than he thinks.)

Mighty Bargain Hunter hosted this week’s Carnival of Personal Finance. One of the articles that I thought was interesting was from Nina at Queercents. It’s called Would you risk your life to get out of debt?

Ms MoneyPenny talks about 7 beliefs that prevent wealth. I agree with her — what we believe becomes our truth. Why not believe the kinds of things that are going to have a positive impact instead?
