New wallet time
I got a new wallet recently — my first since I was about 12 years old.
Do you remember your first wallet? For some reason receiving my first wallet was a big deal for me. I’m not sure why, because I don’t think it arrived with any money inside it.
The one I had back then was a little suede trifold wallet with a tiger embroidered on it. My new one is…hm, actually not that different — it’s a wide leather trifold, minus the embroidered tiger.
It’s not that I’ve been using a child’s wallet for nearly 30 years either — it’s that I didn’t HAVE a wallet at all for so many years.
Instead, I first had a little plastic business card holder that I used for cash & my license, and then later I had a planner (for many many years) that I stuck my things into. I loved my planner, but I finally went all-electronic a couple of months ago.
It’s taken me that long to figure out what to do with my old planner. I kept carrying it around with me because it held things like my driver’s license, credit & debit cards, etc. But I finally found a suitable replacement, which was harder than I thought because I also wanted to be able to fit my phone into my wallet in a pinch.
So now I feel like a grown up, with an actual, real-live wallet.
