Overheard at the store
***
The scene: A neighborhood store.
The players: A clerk working behind the counter, and a female customer dressed in black with a leather jacket on.
The lady working at the counter recognizes the customer from somewhere else, and notices what the customer is wearing.
***
“Oh, hi!” she says, “I didn’t know you were a biker chick!”
The leather-clad customer smiles and says that she does like motorcycles.
“You have a motorcycle and everything?” asks the clerk.
The leather-clad customer looks a little flustered.
“Well, I have a moped. But it only costs me 1,017 pennies to fill it up!”
***
It appears that you can indulge your inner biker chick, save money, and be more environmentally friendly all in one shot.

Was this my daughter in the store? She is a proud moped owner – not quite a biker chick though…..She loves her economical means of transportation and that is one of the reasons I love her. She has a good head on her shoulders (and under a helmet when she rides her moped).

Just a comment about the “environmentally friendly” bit. Mopeds, scooters and full size bikes are fuel efficient (less CO2), but they burn a lot dirtier than automobiles (ie. more particulates). Apparently, over the last few decades when the government was demanding that automobiles meet stick standards, these types of vehicles have been excluded. Hopefully this will change quickly, because I’m sure the technology is readily available.
Not that I don’t think people should ride bikes, I’ve been thinking about getting one myself. I was disappointed when I learned this.
