Reduce, reuse, recycle
The “reduce, reuse, recycle” phrase has been around for years, and it’s good advice. After all, we should take care of the things we have access to. Plus, those are three great ways to cut down on expenses. When you reduce what you’re using, you spend less money. When you reuse what you already have, you spend less money. When you recycle, there’s even the possibility of making a little money.
So I could have kicked myself when I realized that I let a good opportunity to make a little money go (literally) out the window. You know all those windows we had replaced? Well they all had aluminum frames. And they were covered with a set of aluminum-framed storm windows too. That’s quite a bit of aluminum. I could have taken that to a scrap-metal place and cashed in. I hope at the very least that the window company did so when they hauled them away.
I guess this is a good reminder to myself to continue to be on the lookout for ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Or to pass along items to other people that could use them. Which reminds me, I need to go list half a can of chalkboard paint on craigslist. There’s enough left in there to paint a small chalkboard. Surely someone could use it.
