“Save for a sunny day, too” said the billboard
The “Save for a sunny day, too” billboard (which I think is from Wells Fargo) makes me smile every time I drive past it.
Of course, this is probably because I then start thinking about all the “sunny” days that I have in mind.
Trips to…well, pretty much anywhere and everywhere. Those are my favorites.
But I think the concept is what’s most important here: not only should you save for a rainy day (life’s big and little emergencies and inconveniences) but you should save for the enjoyable things as well.
After all, money is a tool, and tools should be used for all kinds of useful things.
So, what kind of sunny days are you saving for? What are some of your longer-term plans?

Beyond retirement and a home (Southern California! Why, why, why must your housing costs be so outrageous?!), I have a more immediate goal of hiking the Milford Sound track in New Zealand. I plan to do the very un-frugal hike, where meals are cooked for hikers and a hot shower in a private hut awaits at the end of each day. Looking ever so forward to that sunny day!
