Smell the coffee…
instead of the litter box.
I’m not sure where I first heard this tip, but it’s made such a big difference in the aroma of our house that I like to pass it on: coffee grounds absorb odors.
You can place them anywhere there are odors that you’d rather not smell. For us, this means keeping coffee grounds near the litter box for our cats. We just keep a handful in a Ziploc bag, and change it out regularly so that it doesn’t grow moldy. Since we’re not coffee drinkers, I get the coffee grounds from work or from Starbucks, who gives them out for free if you ask. (If you do go to Starbucks for them, bring a small container to have filled, otherwise they’ll give you an enormous bag full of them.) Much cheaper than an air freshener, and better-smelling too to my way of thinking.

Try used dryer sheets as well :) They’re also a great idea for sports bags and closets.

This is a great idea. I would definitely prefer to smell coffee than some kind of overpowering outlet plug-in scent. In some dept. stores perfume counters have a little tin of coffee beans to sniff between testing out perfumes to clear out your scent palette.

What a brilliant idea – I do believe that I’m going to use it. The cat litter is in the same room as the computer and if he happens to go… I have to instant urge to leave the room.

My mom always puts car freshners near the litter boxes too.

That’s a really good idea.
I get the coffee grounds from Starbucks for free too–but I use them in my garden for my roses and it works wonderfully…
Now I have a second use for them.
Thanks!

You used coffee grounds that have been used?
For some reason, I had a mental image of unused coffee sitting on a little plate or something. I’ll have to try that.
My bedroom carpet sometimes smells a bit icky (when it’s really humid outside it seems worse than at other times). I’m saving $$ for a new floor – but until then, I may be smelling coffee! :)

I need to find a coffee drinker for a couple of old pills I didn’t use. My pharmacist told me that we should no longer flush old medications: the current recommendation is to dispose of unused drugs in used coffee grounds and place in the trash.
