Starting a new business
I spent much of this past weekend (and several hours each weeknight) doing research for the new business my husband & I are considering starting. I’ve started businesses in the past, so I’m fairly familiar with the process, but this is the first time I’ve put this much work into just coming up with the idea for the business.
In the past, I’d started the process by coming up with an idea that I thought was good and then doing only a cursory check to see if the idea had legs. This time, it’s all customer-focused research first. Because really, it doesn’t matter if I think the idea is good. What matters is if my potential customers are willing to put money in my hands.
I hope that this change in focus makes the critical difference.
