Study for free
Ever wondered what kinds of things you might learn at universities like Notre Dame or MIT? You can find out by signing up for some of the courses available from these and other participating universities in the OpenCourseWare Consortium and the UK’s OpenLearn program.
A few quick searches revealed a Family Finance course, Understanding Dyslexia, Online Shopping, Biostatistics lectures, and more. In other words, there are plenty of topics to choose from.
While you don’t get credit or a degree by participating in these types of courses, the upside is that you get to learn for free. The materials available typically include the syllabus, lecture notes, assignments, and exams. Yale plans to go one step further beginning in 2007, offering some of their courses in video format for free.
