Switching my spending from eating out to buying clothes

I’ve noticed a trend I never thought I’d see: my spending on eating out has gone down dramatically, while my spending on clothes has gone up.

They’re sort of trading places, and I think that is a good thing.

I’m actually still eating out pretty often, but now I’m eating “real” food instead — food from local restaurants that isn’t pre-made, frozen, filled with chemicals, and shipped from who-knows-where for preparation.

The majority of food I get now while eating out tastes better, is less addictive, and costs less to boot.

And while I still have hardly any clothes when compared with most of the people I know, I’m working on buying good-quality pieces that will coordinate with many things and (hopefully) be fairly timeless.

I don’t think I’ll be spending this way on clothes forever either. I’m estimating maybe a year of additional spending, at most. After that it’ll be nice to see my total expenses drop somewhat.
