Tax program & e-filing deals

It’s tax time, which means there are a number of deals to be found regarding both tax programs and e-filing. Here are a few of the ones I’ve found:

Free File – Free File (via the IRS web site) allows taxpayers with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $52,000 or less in 2006 to e-file their federal tax returns for free. There are a whole slew of links to Free File Alliance companies available on the IRS site as well.

Fidelity 35% discount – The Fidelity site is offering 35% off Turbo Tax online for federal. You do have to go through the Fidelity web site each time you access your return, but from what I can tell it looks like you don’t actually have to be a Fidelity customer to take advantage of the discount — you just have to register. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong.)

Intuit’s Tax Freedom site – Offers free federal filing for taxpayers who have an Adjusted Gross Income of $28,500 or less, OR who qualify for the Earned Income Credit with an AGI up to $38,348, OR who served as active duty military with an AGI up to $52,000.

TaxAct – According to their web site, their standard edition offers free 1040 preparation, free printing of tax forms, & free e-filing for 1040s.

Bank of America – BofA is offering 25% off federal Turbo Tax products and 50% off TaxCut Basic. But again, you must go through their site each time you access your return in order to get the discount.

USAA – Offers members 20% off Turbo Tax Online.
