Tempted to do a no-spend week
Typically people do no-spend weeks either to give a little kick in the pants to some monetary goal, or to raise their awareness of their spending.
Me, I’m tempted to do a no-spend week just because I’m tired of entering receipts all the time!
Seriously, I want a break from the paperwork.
It seems like everyday I’ve got several receipts to enter, which is just ridiculous. What I am doing making all these little purchases?
My desk starts out clean in the morning, and ends the day with a pile of papers to deal with. (Maybe I ought to also consider doing a no-getting-the-mail week if I want to accomplish this goal.)
My husband suggested just paying cash for everything, but that would be even worse, because then I’d also have to remember (or write down) what I bought. (I just can’t bear the thought of not tracking my spending, regardless of how I pay.)
Oh well, life’s rough :)
I think maybe I’ll start reminding myself as I enter each receipt about how lucky I am to have money to spend.
Or maybe asking myself “Do I really want to enter this receipt later?” before I buy something might be a good way to inadvertently cut down on my spending.

I laughed when I read your post this morning! I’ve tried to think of loads of ways to help people become conscious of their spending but this is a new one for me! Hey, if it’s taking that much time to enter all your receipts, maybe the pain of entering it all will be enough to deter you from that next cuppa.

Why don’t you try something like Mint.com and then just set up categories in there? No matter what card you use, it will track it and all you have to do is categorize it.
