Those little purchases really add up

Our latest bathroom remodel project is finally done! I am very happy with how it looks, and equally happy that we didn’t have to do the work ourselves this time. (Although I’m not as thrilled with the whole paying someone else to do so idea.) But with luck we will be putting many of the finishing touches on it this weekend. We need to get a shower curtain, liner & rings (since we had plastic shower doors before) and I would like to get matching towel racks (we went with oil-rubbed bronze for the fixtures) and maybe some new towels and bathmats. Those little finishing touches don’t sound like much, but they can really add up. Eventually we’ll need to paint as well but I just can’t face that right now. I’d like to enjoy a little home-improvement-free time for a bit first. Maybe I’ll even be able to get caught up on my reader, which I’m sadly behind on. In the meantime though here are a few articles that I did manage to catch:

MoneyNing hosted the Carnival of Personal Finance this week, which always has plenty of good reading.

Farm Home Life believes that the economy’s not the problem.

SquawkFox begins a helpful series called How to Write a Resume (that gets job interviews).

Wise Bread talks about people who are not the sort of person who <fill in the blank>.

Four Pillars discusses financial education in schools.

Canadian Capitalist (being Canadian of course) gives ideas for your tax-free savings account (TFSA). That sounds like something that would be nice to have here in the U.S.

Clever Dude hosts a guest post from Money Beagle which points out that being frugal isn’t a fad.
