I have a 94 Tempo and it would have cost me $500 to fix the AC - I said forget it, but driving in the summer is hell.
Anyways, preventative maintenance is the key to keeping a car running a long time.

My car was doing that and then the check engine light came on. It turned out all it needed was new spark plugs and wires. Nothing major. Sounds like yours could be that simple too.

Yes, please let us know how it turns out.

Ours does it bad when the tank is nearly empty. We can't let it get below 1/4 of a tank or else it's really bad.

Moving over 1300 miles with this was a real problem (that's when it started happening - once we got into the Texas heat it seemed).

Funny too, our A/C is messed up as well? Common factor? I would if it's a contributing factor?

Good luck with the car! This has happened to me twice in the past two months (luckily the problem was covered under warranty both times). I don't think the auto parts store will be able to help you unless they have the computer to hook it up to to decode the check engine light (at least that was what my regular mechanic told me)
