Tired of paying for directory assistance?

One of the little things that can really add up are calls to directory assistance. Typically they range anywhere from 50 cents to $1.95 per call, depending on your phone service. But there’s a cheaper way: when you want to call 411/information, you can call 1-800-FREE-411 (1-800-373-3411) for free (except for airtime charges if you’re calling from your cell phone). When you call, you’ll hear a brief ad that lasts about 20 seconds and will have the option of learning more about the item being advertised. Ignore that, and it goes straight to an automated service that asks for the city and state, etc. If the computer can’t find your listing, you’ll be transferred to a live operator.
