Too bad I didn’t think of this earlier

We have the older kind of garage door — the kind that’s just one piece, that opens on springs. Apparently this type of garage door really gives openers a workout. So our garage door opener needs to be adjusted every few years. It’s just an annoyance that we pay for now and then. But this time the cost of the service call was $70 (about twice as much as it used to be.)
The repair person quickly made the adjustment and then left. I was entering the expense into Quicken when it hit me — you know, we could probably learn to do this ourselves. Something that takes a technician less than 10 minutes can’t be that hard to learn. Simple DIY stuff can really save money. (In this case, probably $70.) It’s just too bad that I didn’t think of this earlier, so I could have watched while they made the adjustment and learned how to do it. Oh well, time to do some research.
