Trying vs. doing
I have this bad habit of saying “I’ll try” when I anticipate making big changes in my life. But my husband always reminds me of Yoda’s famous saying: “Do, or do not. There is no try.” And he’s right.
Trying doesn’t get you anywhere. Doing something does.
It’s funny what a difference one little word can make in your feelings and actions. Compare the following statements:
“I’m trying to get out of debt” vs. “I’m getting out of debt”.
or
“I’m trying to build wealth” vs. “I’m building wealth”.
Which ones are more powerful? Clearly it’s the statements that aren’t “trying”.
Actions often follow words. If you’re trying to get out of debt or building wealth, give getting out of debt or building wealth a shot instead.
It’s funny what a difference that can make, both in your attitude and in the results you see.

you hit on a pet peeve of mine! Whenever I hear someone say “I should do x” or “I need to do y” I have to grit my teeth. Nine times out of ten it means “this would be nice, but I’m not going to put any effort into it” – at least that’s how I interpret it!
