Week two progress report

Here is my progress report for the 2nd week of September on my challenge to spend $125 or less in September on eating out.

First, I made a couple of quick trips to the grocery store during this time. One was a normal weekly trip to pick up perishables, and the other was an “odds & ends” trip where I picked up some mozzarella. (Which I’d discovered we’d used up while I was in the process of making chicken parmesan.) Other than that, I just focused on sticking to my eating-out plan.

Over all, I did really well for the week of September 8 to September 14. I spent a grand total of $4.18 on eating out. It would have been about $4 more than that, but on the day I was due to stop by Chick-Fil-A and pickup a sandwich, the store I usually frequent emailed me a coupon for a free meal. So I ate there as scheduled, but for free. Can’t beat that!

This brings the total so far for the month to $33.31.

The most surprising thing about this was that I haven’t been craving meals out the way I used to do. The challenge for the week was telling my husband that no, I didn’t want to stop by Subway for lunch on the day I was scheduled to eat at Chick-Fil-A later. (Normally I would have just said ok, and then eaten out again later too.) It has helped immensely to have meals planned out for the month, and to really focus on looking forward to them each day.

Awesome accomplishment and acomplishment(s) in the making! It’s experiments– or rather, challenges– like these that really bring some importance to the holistic approaches to personal and financial well being.

Great money saving- and ultimately better / healthier eating!

All I can say is wow – I think I’d be in trouble if I only spent $4.18 on eating out in a week. Normally I spend about $8 per day – when I’m eating out.
