What if you flashed forward 10 years?

My husband was telling me about the plot for an upcoming TV show called FlashForward.

According to Wikipedia, the plot summary for the show starts out with “A mysterious global event causes everyone to simultaneously experience, for two minutes and seventeen seconds, his or her life six months in the future.”

And that’s about as far as my husband got in his explanation to me before I blurted out, “Could you imagine if you saw yourself ten years from now and everything was the same?”

Would you be happy if nothing had changed in your financial life? Depressed? Indifferent?

Would it motivate you to make changes now that you might not have otherwise made, so that your future would be different?

Time seems to slip by, and before you know it years have gone by. (And of course the older you get, the faster time goes. That’s just the way it is.)

Sometimes just imagining the financial future we want, really seeing it, and comparing it with how things are now can provide a little extra oomph and help get us on track.

Time goes by so fast, I still am shocked by this. If I was to zoom forward 10 years and see that I’m still working forward, even without great increases, I think I would feel peace. Peace in knowing I haven’t screwed anything up majorly and I can stop worrying for the next 10 years. :-)

I would be extremely upset if I forwarded 10 years and found everything to be the same. My hubby and I are desperately trying to get out of debt so we can have kids! If we haven’t made progress in 10 years, we’re not having kids! How depressing. :(

Dedicated, that’s great that you would feel peace :)

Cassandra, sorry it’s depressing. I had the same kind of reaction at first, but then I thought of it as a wake up call to really push harder for what I want.
