Where to buy quality towels?

If it’s one thing I hate doing worse than looking for shoes that fit me, it’s looking for new towels.

But, our towels are starting to get past the point of ignoring. They’re nearly ready for the rag bag, but I just dread finding replacements.

It seems like towels are always so expensive, and that it’s so hard to find good sets that meet all of my requirements.

I want ones that are comfortable, absorbent and fluffy, that won’t fall apart or fade in the wash, and that look nice. Preferably they should come in burgundy.

In the past I’ve tried towels in all price ranges, and been mostly disappointed in the results. It’s been especially irritating when the expensive ones quickly fall apart.

I tried reading reviews on Amazon, and that hasn’t helped. Every towel seems to have its detractors and its fans, even though they’re the same towel!

Of course, I can’t remember where I got the towels that we’re going to need to replace, because it’s been that long since I got them.

You wouldn’t think this would be that hard.

So can you help with recommendations? I’d appreciate them!

I just purchased a large number of Wamsutta Hotel towels from Bed, Bath & Beyond. They were on sale for about $8.00 each and there were lots of colors to choose from. I’ve purchased cheap ($3 and $4 towels) before with disastrous results; and I’ve purchased pricey ($15 and up) towels with no obvious benefits. So, I now look for name brand towels on sale and then stock up. I have seven kids so my towels get a work out; the Wamsutta towels will last me about 2 years. Good luck!

JCPenney usually has god towels for a good price, esp. since they’re always having sales. You can also get really good quality towels for around $8 at places like TJ Maxx, and Marshalls- the down side, limited choice of colors.

Lands End–always excellent quality, and often on sale. Since the first of the year, they always seem to have a 20% off or free shipping or some other kind of incentive running.

And if the towels don’t perform well, you can return them for replacement.

Thanks, I will have to check those places out. Maybe my standards are just too high? I’d like towels that will last 5-7 years…

Sams has great fluffy, big, absorbent towels, ~6.00 in all colors.

I’m so glad you wrote this. I’m picky on towels and always hate shopping for them!

I finally replaced my towels with 3 from Bed Bath and Beyond. They’re soft, absorbent and look as fluffy as they feel. They were $10/each and marked as defective but there’s nothing wrong with them that I can see/feel. They’ve gone through the wash several times without incident.

I’ll probably hit Costco next time I need towels.

I’m on the hunt for towels, and I cannot believe how overpriced towels
are. I need about 15-20 of the same towel, and they make it where you
can only afford three at a time. Which means, I’ll have to wash the
f*king things after every shower. Grrrrr.
