I think it's the surprise factor for me too in checking the mail. Although I have gotten unexpected checks before, so that may have something to do with it :)

I was pretty lax in trying to get all my bills paid online, but now I'm pretty darn close. There's only a few out there (like the city's water/sewer bill) that need the attached paperwork, but they might even have an online payment option.

I was just thinking yesterday of how I could work in a post about mail because I thought about how excited I always was, and sort of still am, to get mail. I think it's just the surprise factor. However, now I just get junk mail. No letters from long lost friends, not checks I wasn't expecting. Just junk and subscriptions.

I'm still always the first to check the mail though!

I am fully online. I discovered something with my free on-line bill pay: if the company I am paying does not accept payments online, the bill pay service will send a check in an envelope to that company. All I have to do is enter their mailing information and the amount of the check into the bill-pay website. They take care of the rest.

I pay almost all of my bills online now and will continue to do so. It's quick, easy and free! What more could a frugal woman want?
