If everyone had previously just focused on their own economy, the US probably would not be in the mess it's in right now! Fear is a survival instinct - but that does not mean to Stop! It' means to check it out, research, proceed with caution...but keep on going on! Go for it! Personal responsibility - a great thing! But not used enough. Good post! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I have done some backpacking and even by myself to which people criticized me because it may be dangerous to go to certain places alone. My response was like yours, can't live in fear. With money it's slightly different. Because you have multiple financial responsibilities more so than just yourself. Fear can be a major factor when making financial decisions, if anything, it makes people do more of the proper research and decision making possible.
