Your Money or Your Life
A few months back I read Your Money or Your Life: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Achieving Financial Independence by Joe Dominguez & Vicki Robin. I’ve read plenty of money books before that and usually enjoyed them, but this one really struck a chord with me. You see I’ve always believed that “stuff” weighs you down — that you can wind up working to support the stuff you have (with “stuff” being anything from physical things like a shiny new car to an expensive set of books). That feeling, combined with my not being a fan of clutter, has always made me think twice about purchasing most things. But then I read this book, and realized that there’s even more to it than that. You can actually find yourself working more hours than you think just to support your job. That’s not my idea of a wise use of time :). This book explains how to reach financial independence, and I’m on my way to working through the steps. I highly recommend it. I can’t wait for the day when I can say I don’t owe any money to any one.
