August 2009 Update
I didn’t really do much of anything this month money-wise, except spend an awful lot. I was horrified when I glanced down at my running total of expenditures and realized that I spent more than I earned in August. Ow!
I really don’t like it when I do that.
On the plus side though, the overspending was taken care of (as intended) from savings for a trip that my husband and I have planned. I tell you what, I’m super excited about that! I’m really looking forward to it.
I also made what I hope will be an investment in my business, which ate up a big chunk of my income. I hope I’m able to cash flow that investment next month as well.
In the end, all that really happened for me net worth-wise in August was that the markets went up a little and I made my normal payments and contributions to my 401k. (And of course I’m very happy that the markets went up a little.)
August’s numbers look like this:
Assets: Up $929.49
Liabilities: Down $1071.12
Change in net worth over previous month: Up $2,000.61
Yeah the Dow was up around 3%. With all the volatility over the recent past I guess I’ve kind of gotten used to thinking of that kind of swing as a little. It’s given me a distorted view…
the markets rose A LOT in August.
