Freezer Containers for Soup: A List of Our Favorites

Freezer Containers for Soup

In our modern fast paced life, it is unexpected that you will have time to cook fresh everyday. Yet nutrition experts are continuously preaching the advantages of eating homemade food. What a dilemma! Fortunately, technology has advanced enough to give us opportunity to cook at our convenience and store the food for days – or even months.

No, I am not talking about refrigerators. In this article, I have listed 8 soup containers that keep soup fresh in the freezer. Though, these containers can be used to store other food items besides soup.

Sistema Soup Mug

This soup mug is perfect for storing soup in the freezer, heating it in the microwave, as well as carrying it to anywhere. The mug is made from BPA-free polypropylene plastic. It has a triple clipping lid which prevents slippage and ensures freshness of soups.

The mug’s capacity is 22oz but I recommend pouring up to 20oz to leave room for expansion in the freezer.

Reditainer Extreme Freeze Deli Food Containers with Lids

This soup container is particularly designed for freezing and you can freeze it even at -40 degrees Fahrenheit. The product is made in the USA and conforms to FDA standards. It has water and air tight lids. Besides the freezer, you can also use this soup container in the microwave and dishwasher.

I will recommend pouring cold soups in the container and then freezing it. While cleaning in the dishwasher, place it on the top rack. These containers can also be used to store frozen yogurt, ice cream etc. Food stays good in them for months.

Stay Fit Soup/Meal Container, EZ Heat

Though this product is mainly used to keep soup warm for a long time, according to the manufacturer, it can also be used to freeze soups. The container has insulated gel pack lining, which will keep your soups fresh in the freezer for a long time. The product is made from BPA-free plastic and has a capacity of around 20oz.

While using it in microwave, unscrew the lid a little, otherwise the lid will get tight and you will have problems while opening it. Even after pouring hot soup, don’t use too much pressure when tightening the lid. It is water sealed and your soup is not going to splatter. This is true of all freezer containers for soup.

Paksh Novelty Plastic Container

This container is also a good fit for freezing soups. It is microwave and dishwasher compatible. It doesn’t crack even in -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Made from BPA-free polypropylene plastic, the walls of the container keep cold items cold for several days. The containers are of transparent color, which allows you to check the condition of the frozen items easily.

These are best for storing any of your leftovers. If you are storing items like sauce, which can cause staining, apply a layer of oil on their inner surface. These are an economical and handy way to store your food. However, when dropped on hard surfaces, they do crack.

Dutis, Plastic Microwave & Dishwasher Food Storage Containers

These containers are great for storing soups, raw veg and non-veg items and any leftover in the freezer. The manufacturer claims that the product lasts a lifetime. Like other listed containers, these are also made from BPA-free plastic. The containers have locking lids, which are air and water tight. They can be used in the microwave and cleaned in the dishwasher.

I personally feel that the shape of the containers is particularly suitable for hand cleaning and economical use of space. While using it in the microwave, make sure you either take the lid off or place it loosely over the container. I haven’t found a single disadvantage of the containers.

Glad Food Storage Containers

At first look, it appears that the containers are designed for packing lunch but they can very well be used to store soups, vegetables, desserts, and leftovers in the freezer. The container is made from BPA-free plastic and can be used in the microwave and dishwasher. The interlocking lids prevent liquid from leaking. But be gentle while taking the lid off.

While using it in the microwave, make sure you take the lid off or at least place it loose over the container. Don’t place it for too long in microwave. The container gets stained from food items like tomatoes, sauces etc. Before pouring them, apply some anti-stick cooking spray on the inner surface to prevent staining.

Symphony Paper Soup and Frozen Dessert Ice Cream Container with Vented Flat Lid

These containers are suitable for both hot and cold soups. Besides, they can be used to store any dessert in the freezer. Container’s capacity is 16 oz. The container has polythene lining on inner and outer surface which prevents leaking of fluid. These containers can be placed in the microwave as well. The plastic used in this container is recyclable.

HomeNative Watertight / Leakproof Takeout Kitchen Container

These containers are ideal for storing any raw and cooked food item including soup in the refrigerator. The container can survive up to -28 degrees Fahrenheit. You can use these containers to heat soup in the microwave. The containers are made from BPA-free plastic. The snap lock lids of the container make it water tight and keep the soup fresh.

Hand wash is best for these containers. If you decide to put it in the dishwasher, make sure to place it on the top shelf and control the temperature to a maximum 48 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • We have a couple of Pyrex containers that I’ve used to take my lunches in for the past 15 years. They really have stood up against the test of time. They were more expensive than the plastic counterparts, but they last almost forever!
